Video Timer VT-1 and Synchronization with Data
Biographics VT-1 Module and Video Data Recording Unit: Biographics Inc. provides a module designed to allow synchronization between captured video frames and digital timed event data. The times of each frame can easily be stored along with spike and event data. Video frames showing behavioral events can be easily correlated with corresponding times of spike and other event data stored in digital files.
Video output signal from any camera or video signal source is input to the VT-1 unit. A video output signal is generated with information superimposed on the image. Data includes: Date and Time of Day, millisecond from a start pulse, and an up count of TTL input pulses. Input lines from the Digital IO lines from a computer workstation allow for enable, reset and clear of the msec timer and up counter. An output TTL signal from the VT-1 timer changes from high to low to high on each field and frame of the video signal. This feature allows the computer to time the start of each frame and field.
Video Capture by a host utility PC workstation is performed by an ATI Video Capture Card. MPEG -1 settings control the resolution and compression of the capture audio-video signal. Stored video resolution can be from very high at 640x480 pixels to low at 320x240 pixel with low bit rate. Video files can vary as needed in size from 1:1 to 1:100 compressions.
A Real Time Experimental Protocol is provided to allow capture and storage of the time of each frame. Start pulses and the times of up counts provided to the video up counter.
Cabling is provided
to link the VT-1 Video timer to the 48 or 96 line TTL DIO modules.
